Shah Rukh Khan’s Saare Jahaan Se Accha, a biopic on Indian astronaut Rakesh Sharma, has been in the news for a long time now. The film was originally supposed to star Aamir Khan but he could not do it owing to some other work commitments. But because he had absolutely loved the script, he sent it across to his good friend SRK, who did not take much time in giving his nod.
Present at the grand finale of the 2nd edition of Cinestaan India’s Storyteller Script Contest, Aamir shared his thoughts on the film. He said, “I think it’s a great and wonderful script. I am a huge fan of Rakesh and it’s a wonderful story. I feel sad that I am not able to do it, which is why I actually called up Shah Rukh and said that it’s a wonderful story and you should hear it. I am really happy that he liked it and he is doing it so, all my best wishes for their project.”
Written by Anjum Rajabali of Ghulam fame, Saare Jahaan Se Accha will be directed by Mahesh Mathai. Previously titled as Salute, the space film will be jointly produced under Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP and Siddharth Roy Kapur’s Roy Kapur Films banners.
The makers are expected to announce the leading lady as well as the release date soon.
