After impressing us with multiple power-packed performances this year, Vicky Kaushal is all set to continue his tremendous form in 2019 as well. The trailer of his next release – Uri: The Surgical Strike – dropped a while ago and has left the movie buffs intrigued.
The film is based on the surgical strike conducted by the Indian Army in Pakistan occupied Kashmir in 2016, post the deadly terror attack in Uri that took the lives of our 19 soldiers. Written and directed by Aditya Dhar, Uri stars Yami Gautam as the female lead.
While Vicky plays an Army man who leads the attack, Yami can be seen as an intelligent officer. Besides them, Paresh Rawal and Kriti Kulhari also have pivotal roles in the film.
The trailer has drawn mostly positive reactions on social media thus far. People are hailing the efforts of the team Uri for bringing the Indian Army’s brave act to the big screen.
Vicky, who started his Bollywood journey with the critically acclaimed Masaan in 2015, has come a long way in a span of just 3 years and is now regarded as one of the most talented actors of the current lot. 2018 turned out to be the breakthrough year for Vicky as he has delivered some brilliant performances. He started the year with Netflix’s first Indian original film Love Per Square Foot and was later seen in the streaming giant’s Lust Stories as well. His work in both the films fetched him immense appreciation. Then, his two big screen outings, Raazi and Sanju, also brought him accolades from all corners. In fact, his performance in the Rajkumar Hirani directorial was dubbed on par with that of Ranbir Kapoor. However, his last release, Anurag Kashyap’s Manmarziyaan, did not fare well at the box office despite getting positive reviews.
Unfazed by the rare failure, Vicky is now gearing up for Uri which is slated to hit the screens on January 11.
